About Partridge Lodge

Partridge Lodge

In 2007, my wife Sarah and I left London in search of a different pace of life and found ourselves at a run-down former dairy farm in the Suffolk countryside. Over the following year, we renovated the buildings to create Partridge Lodge - a peaceful rural retreat where guests can relax, reconnect and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

Partridge Lodge has always been a family project. Our four boys have grown up here and have played a huge part in shaping what the space has become, often bringing fresh and imaginative ideas, along with a valuable children’s perspective on how spaces should feel and function for families and groups.

Today, our holiday cottages are tucked away enough to offer a true sense of escape, yet the grounds remain open and welcoming for guests to explore. Whether wandering through the meadows, relaxing beside the ponds, or spotting local wildlife such as owls, woodpeckers, kingfishers and deer, there is always something special to discover.

Guests are welcome to enjoy all that the grounds have to offer, including two ponds (one with boathouse stocked for fishing), a tennis court, orchard, sauna, play fort and wide open spaces to unwind and spend time together. Our aim has always been simple - to create somewhere that feels relaxed, welcoming and memorable for every guest who stays with us.

Inside, you'll discover a variety of items, ranging from foosball tables and fishing gear to wood kindling.

Things to do in a beautiful location

Slightly further afield there are stunning walks through the footpaths from Partridge Lodge which, in one direction, will guide you to the beautiful Boulge Estate where lies, in a quiet secluded churchyard, Mr Edward Fitzgerald (translator of Omar Khayyam). Stroll in the opposite direction, and you'll find yourself in the heart of Bredfield village, home to the Village Shop and a children's playground tucked away towards the back, waiting to be explored.

We continue to build and share our now sizeable local knowledge of historic and fun things to do.

We'll happily offer restaurant recommendations (which we'll book on your behalf if you like), from Bawdsey Quay to Sutton Hoo to Orford to Aldeburgh to Southwold to Thorpeness to Friday Street Farm Shop to The Farm Cafe to the charm of Woodbridge itself, there is so much life and these are only some of our favourite places.
